Therefore, renting personal property, (cars, tools, equipment, clothes, or anything (other than real estate) requires a seller's permit (because you need to collect sales tax) as well as the above business licensing.

THE DIFFERENCE IN RENTING THESE IS TAXATION

Personal property is subject to sales tax, whereas renting real estate is not subject to sales tax. So, in addition to all the BUSINESS LICENSING that you need for your business, if you rent personal property, you need to obtain a seller's permit.

I.e., if you're renting personal property such as equipment, tools, vehicles, clothing or any other tangible item that is NOT REAL ESTATE.
